If it is one thing that we would invest our time and money in to over and over again it would education. Educating yourself and others in your family businesses so that you may all work together as a team with similar knowledge and skills.
The decision to do this was very easy to make, why not spend the money on ourselves, employees and family members. Too many times we see money spent on other professionals who may not necessarily have the skills to advise you on where to start with your succession planning process . It is far better at least in the beginning to make the investment on the people in your own business. Education saves money down the track and empowers people to make informed decisions based on their own knowledge base.
