We have a Vision – “To Inspire others to Create Positive Changes within their Rural Family Businesses”.
Hi and welcome to our site, we are Peter and Simone Lawrie and we live at Westwood, Queensland Australia with our two amazing children Ty and Brooke.
By sharing own real life experiences and recipe for success we hope to assist others in achieving positive successful outcomes in relation to rural succession planning within their own family businesses.
We currently own and manage 4860ha of land where we operate a cattle livestock trading enterprise. Peter was given ownership of this portion of the 8000ha family property in 2007 after working on the property for 18 years as a station hand , he is a fourth generation grazier.
SUCCESSION PLANNING CAN BE SUCCESSFUL
Having worked through a successful rural family succession transition ourselves, we have extensive real life experiences in the area of family succession planning, having “been there and done that” we are able to share with others our experiences, what has worked for us and how we achieved the impossible. A successful succession planning outcome, complete with relationships intact!
It has not been an easy road, however it is by far the most rewarding outcome we have ever achieved, the lessons we have both learnt on a personal and business level are invaluable. and the relationships within our family that were once feared lost forever, are now stronger than ever before.
IT TAKES PLANNING AND COMMITMENT TO YOU FAMILY
Through education and sheer determination we were able to successfully restructure a $20 million rural family business and still to this day 7 years on retain the closest of relationship with Peter’s entire family. We have broken the mould of “families don’t get on”, “sisters-in-law can’t be friends” and “brothers just don’t work together”.
We have the utmost compassion and respect for generations that have gone before us, who have worked hard and made sacrifices which has given us the opportunity to have such a great life and remain on the land.
